I remember watching this on Channel 5 before I discovered Challenge It's a fantastic show...although I'm not too keen on Challenge's version(with Tom Baker,ect.)-which is repeated on Challenge and Virgin 1 now

I agree. When Leslie Grantham left only the professor kept the show funny. Then they replaced him with Tom Baker, and Grantham with the bloke who played Ironside in The Bill. That's what killed the show off. Boyard became funny and lost his evilness.
Fort Boyard and The Crystal Maze were both created by Jacques Antoine.

I always wonder if they keep the tigers on the fort every night, surley they would prefure to be in the wild life

An interesting question, Jonnie. Given the rigorous animal rights laws of today I'm sure the tigers are shipped on for filming. Besides, if the Crystal Maze filming schedule is anything to go by a series of Fort Boyard would only take between four to six weeks.
(you can get an idea of time by the tide's height around the fort)
